Visitors Guide

Here is (minimal) information on logistics we sent out the other day.

Access Information

Directions from Narita Airport to the Forest Hongo (about two hours latency and two hops away)

1 Narita Airport >>> JR Narita Express >>> Tokyo Station
2 Tokyo Station >>> Taxi >>> Forest Hongo

The Narita Express fare is 2940 yen (US$25). The cab ride from Tokyo Station will cost roughly 2000-3000 yen (US$15-US$25).

Note: most Tokyo taxi drivers do not speak English, therefore a (PDF) map with the address (in the upper right hand corner) is provided here, and a big image file here should the PDF file not print out. Printing these out and showing them to the taxi drivers would probably help you to get to the University of Tokyo. (A green arrow at the center of the image shows the location of the hotel we recommend below).

The other transportation methods from Narita Airport to Tokyo Station can be found here or here. The alternatiave to a cab ride from Tokyo Station to the hotel is taking a subway called Marunouchi Line. (See the transportation map below. Marunouchi Line is marked red). The station nearby the University of Tokyo is Hongo Sanchome, which is four stops away from Tokyo. Subway map is available here (look for the subway line in red. M17 is Tokyo, and M21 is Hongo Sanchome). The campus is about 5 minutes walk from Hongo Sanchome Station.

Hotel Information

We are recommending that participants stay at the Forest Hongo Hotel; it is conveniently located -- close to the workshop venue (on the main Hongo campus).

The hotel provides directions here. (See also the note and map on taxis above.)
